About Baryons
Baryons is building the next generation of AI-driven flourishing and conversation platforms — intelligent systems that help people grow, reflect, and thrive through meaningful dialogue. Our products combine voice, memory, and human insight to create interactions that feel natural, personal, and alive.
As a science-backed, patent-pending organization, we’re defining a new category of human-AI connection — one that’s grounded in psychology, neuroscience, and the science of human flourishing.
We’re looking for a Mobile App Developer who thrives on crafting elegant, high-performance applications that bring these experiences to life — bridging React Native with native iOS and Android capabilities, and extending our reach into wearables, widgets, and ambient mobile experiences.
Role Overview
As a Mobile App Developer (Software Engineer) at Baryons, you’ll play a central role in delivering our cross-platform mobile experience using base React Native (non-Expo). You’ll collaborate closely with the CTO and cross-functional teams across AI, voice, and backend engineering to integrate real-time conversational capabilities, observability, and intuitive interfaces that strengthen user connection and engagement.
This isn’t just about building mobile apps — it’s about building systems that foster human flourishing, blending design, emotion, and AI to create something deeply meaningful.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain cross-platform mobile applications using React Native (bare workflow) for iOS and Android.
Integrate and extend platform functionality using Swift and Kotlin/Java for native modules and performance-critical components.
Collaborate with AI and backend teams to deliver smooth, low-latency conversational experiences powered by Baryons’ agent architecture.
Implement observability and analytics using tools like Sentry, Firebase Crashlytics, or App Center to ensure reliability and actionable insights.
Own the build and deployment pipeline, managing provisioning, signing, and phased rollouts to the App Store and Google Play.
Design and develop companion features for wearables (Apple Watch, WearOS) and home screen widgets for continuous, context-aware engagement.
Optimize app performance for speed, responsiveness, and energy efficiency across devices.
Debug, triage, and resolve issues reported via logs, QA, or observability tools.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of mobile app development for iOS and Android.
2+ years of experience with React Native (non-Expo), including custom native module linking.
Strong proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript, React Hooks, Context API, and React Navigation.
Hands-on experience with Swift (iOS) and Kotlin/Java (Android) for native integrations.
Proven record of App Store and Google Play deployments, including release management and compliance.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines for mobile (e.g., Fastlane, GitHub Actions, or Bitrise).
Familiarity with observability platforms (Sentry, Crashlytics, App Center, Firebase).
Understanding of REST / GraphQL APIs, secure authentication, and local data persistence.
Competence with Git workflows, code review, and collaborative development practices.
Commitment to high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code.
Preferred/Nice-to-Have
Experience developing for wearables (Apple Watch, WearOS) and mobile widgets.
Familiarity with real-time communications (WebRTC, LiveKit, Twilio, etc.).
Experience integrating voice and audio interfaces into mobile applications.
Understanding of Reanimated 3, Gesture Handler, or native animation frameworks.
Knowledge of secure keychain access, token management, and data encryption best practices.
Experience with AI-driven interfaces, feature flagging, and remote configuration.
Knowledge of Stripe, in-app purchases, or subscription-based models.
A passion for human-centered design, personal development, and AI systems that support human growth.
What Makes You a Fit
You’re someone who builds with intent — focused on how technology can help people flourish. You balance the precision of engineering with the empathy of design, caring as much about how something feels as how it works.
You don’t just write mobile code.
You help bring human-AI connection to life.
